Vivre sa vie
by Jean-Luc Godard, 1962

A great film by Godard, featuring his partner Ana Karina.
A girl in Paris turns to prostitution when her casual job fails to maintain her.
Paris is seen bursting with life, with all these cinemas, cafes and american cars. It is also a city of solitary life and exploitation, as exemplified by the girl and her environment.
Shot as a documentary at times, and challenging cinematic conventions, funny and dramatic in turns, it does let the viewer with a rather bitter aftertaste, reflecting on a rather tragic situation.
